Bhubaneswar, August 23: A delegation of the state BJP on Wednesday met the Odisha Governor on the suicide bid of the lady home guard who ultimately lost her two legs.
The BJP leaders demanded stern action against the DIG, Central Range Brijesh Rai and his wife who allegedly abated the home guard taking the extreme decision of committing suicide.
A team led by State BJP Vice-President Rekhashree Samant Singhara called on GUV Prof. Ganeshi Lal and briefed the tragic incident, which made the lady home guard lose her two legs. They urged the GUV to recommend stern legal action against the DIG and his wife.
Apart from it, the BJP leaders appealed to him to extend helping hands for the two daughters of the victim and sanction an ex-gratia worth Rs 1 crore for her maintenance and rehabilitation.
Worth mentioning, a lady home guard identified as Sairindri Sahu was deployed at the DIG’s residence in Angul town, as a domestic assistant. Meanwhile, she was reportedly rescued from the railway track in a critical condition. Subsequently, she lost her lower limbs as a train crushed her body.
During an investigation, the victim expressed her ordeal and alleged that she was mentally tortured by the wife of the DIG for a long time who was allegedly threatening to expel her from her job at any moment.
