Mallick is yet to start campaign in the constituency due to opposition. According to reports, she has sanctioned only Rs 1.5 crore from MPLADS for panchayats under Kujanga and Tirtol blocks during her 2019-2024 tenure.
Notably, Mallick won Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat agaisnt BJP candidate Bibhu Prasad Tarai in 2019 by a hefty margin of nearly 2 lakh votes.
The BJP has further fielded Tarai against her and this time it is going to be a fiercely contested battle as the ongoing election will be different with an undercurrent in favour of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
