Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: Umakant Patel, Deputy General Manager of Bhubaneswar Airport, has been arrested for allegedly deceiving an air hostess by hiding his marital status and engaging in an illicit relationship.

After the victim lodged a complaint, the Airport Police arrested Patel and forwarded to court here.

According to reports, Patel was transferred to Bhubaneswar Airport about four months ago after serving at Delhi Airport. During his posting in Delhi, he allegedly developed a romantic relationship with an air hostess employed by a private airline, falsely claiming that he was unmarried. Under the pretext of marriage, he is accused of establishing a sexual relationship with her.

When the woman reportedly became pregnant, Patel allegedly threatened her and forced her to undergo an abortion. Later, the air hostess was transferred to Bhubaneswar, where she continued her job. Patel, too, was eventually posted to Bhubaneswar and allegedly resumed his relationship with her.

The situation escalated when the woman discovered that Patel was already married and had a child. After confronting him about it, she was allegedly threatened, which led her to file a formal complaint at the Airport Police Station.
