Bhubaneswar, January 26:The Utkal Yadav Mahasabha has made a resolute appeal to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to include BJP MLA Laxman Bag from Kantabanji in his Cabinet.

During the Executive Meeting held on Sunday at Kantabanji, the Mahasabha passed a unanimous resolution requesting that Chief Minister Majhi appoint Laxman Bag, who represents the Kantabanji constituency in Bolangir district, as a minister in the state cabinet.

Laxman Bag, a Yadav by caste, made a remarkable political breakthrough in the 2024 elections by defeating five-time Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with a margin exceeding 16,000 votes. His victory sparked speculation within political circles that he would be offered a ministerial post in the newly formed BJP government. However, it was claimed that he was overlooked in the final Cabinet lineup.

At the Executive meeting, Mahasabha members reiterated their demand for Laxman Bag's inclusion in the Odisha Cabinet. The meeting also resolved to appeal to both the Central leadership of the BJP and Chief Minister Majhi to ensure that the MLA receives his rightful position. To further escalate the issue, the Mahasabha plans to organize a march to the state capital, Bhubaneswar.

The meeting also addressed the need for a caste-based census for Yadavs and other backward castes OBC, emphasizing their fair representation in local body elections, government employment, and educational institutions. The Mahasabha affirmed its commitment to advancing the educational and developmental interests of the Yadav community in Odisha.

The meeting was chaired by Laxman Bag, General Secretary of the Mahasabha, and attended by prominent members including Subhash Behera (President), Lombodar Nial (Vice President), Prdeep Behera (Youth President), and representatives from 32 districts across the state.
