Bhubaneswar, Sept 5: In a bid to play a strong role of opposition in the Parliament of course for the first time after the poll debacle, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha is readying itself to oppose the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the Parliament.
Odisha politics heated up in this connection on Thursday after a post of BJD President & Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik on X, came to fore.
Patnaik wrote on X, “Minority brothers and sisters from different places are meeting me every day. They are informing about suffering from a sense of insecurity. Keeping in view the interest of the minorities, the BJD will oppose the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. Peace and harmony are the foundation for development. Odisha is famous for harmony and brotherhood”
Senior BJD leader Munna Khan also stated that the BJD is likely to go against the motion relating the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Worth mentioning, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill bill has been referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for scrutiny.
