Bihar, Mar 5: In a significant development in Bihar politics, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has formally announced his candidature for the Rajya Sabha, putting an end to months of speculation.

Taking to social media platform X, Nitish Kumar addressed the people of Bihar, stating that for over two decades, their consistent trust and support have enabled him to serve the state with dedication. He credited this faith for Bihar’s progress and rising stature at the national level, expressing gratitude for their continued backing.

Nitish Kumar further stated that since the start of his parliamentary career, he had aspired to serve in both Houses of the Bihar Legislature and Parliament. In line with this ambition, he declared his decision to seek election to the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming polls.

Assuring the people of his continued commitment, the Chief Minister emphasized that his bond with the citizens of Bihar would remain strong and his determination to build a developed Bihar would not waver. He also pledged full support and guidance to the new government that will take office in the state.

The announcement has triggered intense political activity across Bihar, with discussions about his Rajya Sabha move gaining momentum. Reports suggest that murmurs of dissent have emerged within the Janata Dal (United) ranks in response to the development.

In view of the rising political temperature, security at the Chief Minister’s residence has been significantly tightened. A large number of police personnel were deployed at the main gates, and patrols were intensified in the surrounding areas. Security forces were placed on high alert, effectively turning the vicinity into a high-security zone.

Since morning, JD(U) workers have gathered outside the Chief Minister’s residence, raising slogans of “Nitish Kumar Zindabad” and expressing support for his leadership. Many of them emphasized that the public mandate was given to him as Chief Minister.

This development marks a major turning point in Bihar’s political landscape. Nitish Kumar’s shift to the Rajya Sabha could reshape the state’s leadership structure and signal a new phase in his long political journey.
