Bhubaneswar, Sep 2: A central team will visit Odisha on September 4-5 to inspect the bird flu situation in the state.
It was revealed in the high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja today.
Alaka Upadhyay, Union Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), and senior officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Outbreak of avian influenza has been confirmed at four epicentres in Pipili, Satyabadi, Nimapada and Delanga Blocks of Puri district. The control and containment operation is being carried out as per the action plan of Centre.
The control and containment operation in the infected zone of epicentres at Pipili and Satyabadi has been completed. The process is under progress at the epicenters of Delanga and Nimapada Blocks, said an official.
51 Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) are engaged in culling, disposal of birds and sanitation in infected zone.Till now 35,329 birds, 84 eggs and 15380 kg of poultry feed has been destroyed. A sum of Rs.10, 94, 572 has been given to the farmers as compensation for culling of birds and destruction of eggs and poultry feed.
The Chief Secretary instructed to take up massive public awareness, intensify clinical surveillance in nearby area, preventing the entry of poultry, feed and poultry-related products to the affected areas.
A sampling plan shall be prepared for collection of serum sample and sending regular samples to designated laboratories for surveillance. The deep burial site shall be protected and those sites shall be mapped and uploaded in portal. The Health & FW Department, Odisha and BMC was advised to carry out public awareness activities to prevent the spread of scare in public.
The Secretary, DAHD assured for all type of support to the state for control and containment of the outbreak.
Upadhyay said a central team will visit the state on September 4-5 for further monitoring.
She emphasised on registration and mapping of all commercial farms and coordination with Health & Forest Department.
