Bhubaneswar, May 11: Critical tests like biopsy will be available at PGIMER and Capital Hospital here in the city.
The much-awaited State Public Health Laboratory will be inaugurated in the new G-4 building of the hospital soon, said hospital administration.
A budget of Rs 21,62,50,000 has been estimated for development of the apex laboratory.
The State Public Health Laboratory will be set up near the Pathology Department of the hospital.
Microbiology, parasitological test, culture test, biopsy and other cancer related tests will be conducted in the laboratory for which samples were sent to other states.
Besides, the new advanced cancer care facility of the hospital will be ready by end of the year. The centre will have PET/CT scan, chemotherapy, radiation, histopathology, investigation, surgery, CT and MRI. It will provide treatment, consultation and diagnosis free of cost to cancer patients.
The new cancer centre will facilitate surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology.
