Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: For the BJP camp, it’s time to celebrate Jay Dholakia’s landslide victory in the Nuapada bypoll.

In a bid to accord a rousing welcome to Dholakia, Odisha BJP on Saturday organized a special ceremony at the state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.

Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi accompanied by Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal with state leaderships, received Dholkia here and wished him all success.

During the welcome session, CM Majhi urged Dholakia to remain dedicated for Nuapada and its people, who showered unwavering blessings on the BJP nominee.

On the other hand, Dholakia thanked the locals of Nuapada and expressed gratitude to them for the moral support they extended during the election.

Attributing his success to the people Dholakia said, “This victory is not mine. The credit goes to the Nuapada aboriginals who opted me as one among them to represent their needs, sorrows & sufferings before the government, for prompt redressal.

In an apparent jibe at the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), he said that those who had ‘disrespected’ the legacy of his late father and former BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia had “faced the people’s response”.

Worth mentioning, Jay Dholakia won the Nuapada bypoll race yesterday with an outstanding margin worth 83,748 votes adding 1,23,869 votes in toto to the BJP account. On the other hand, Congress candidate Ghasi Ram Majhi remained second securing 40,121 votes. However, BJD’s woman icon Snehangini Chhuria obtained 38,408 votes and drastically lost the Nuapada battle.
