Bike theft racket busted in Bhubaneswar, five arrested

Bhubaneswar, Aug 09: The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested five persons involved in stealing motorcycles across Bhubaneswar.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Ashutosh, Jagannath Behera, Rajendra Behera, Pratyush Kumar Singh, and Ranjit Kumar Behera.

Operations were conducted by two separate police stations. Badagada Police recovered 11 stolen motorcycles and apprehended four accused, while Bharatpur Police recovered four two-wheelers and arrested one person.

In total, 15 stolen motorcycles have been recovered so far.

“We will begin the process of returning the recovered vehicles to their rightful owners today. I appreciate the prompt and effective efforts of the IICs of Badagada and Bharatpur police stations,” said Commissioner of Police S. Dev Datta Singh during a press briefing.

Police said further investigation is underway to uncover more links to the theft network.
