Bhubaneswar, July 20: The Odisha government rebranded the ‘Biju Patnaik Sports Award’, the coveted award conferred to grooming Odia sports icons on Friday.
The award has been renamed as ‘Odisha Rajya Krida Samman’, said a notification issued by the Mohan Majhi-led government today.
According to the notification served by the Sports & Youth Services Department, Rajya Krida Samman will be awarded in eight categories.
It will be awarded for Lifetime Achievement for the promotion of Sports and Games, which will carry a cash award of Rs 3 lakh, the Samman will be offered for outstanding Performance in Sports and Games for the year, which will carry a cash award of Rs 2 lakh. The Samman will be dedicated to excellence in coaching,which will carry a cash award of Rs 1 lakh.
Similarly, one will deserve the Samman for the best contribution to promoting of sports and games, which will carry a cash award of Rs 1 lakh. Similarly, an ace sportsperson or athlete will deserve the Samman for excellence in sports journalism, which will carry a cash award of Rs 1 lakh whereas the Odisha Rajya Krida Samman will be conferred to the best Para Sportsperson of the year, which will carry a cash award of Rs 1 lakh.
