Bhubaneswar, January 14: Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg wrapped up a two-day visit to Kandhamal district, where she assessed the progress of key government development programs in tourism, livelihood, education, healthcare, and drinking water. This marked her first visit to Kandhamal since taking office.

During her visit, Garg emphasized enhancing tourism infrastructure and improving the delivery of welfare schemes at the grassroots level. She interacted with tribal students receiving civil services coaching, encouraged their aspirations, and visited the district e-library and medical college, offering suggestions for better healthcare services.

On the second day, Garg visited Daringbadi’s Eco Retreat and coffee garden, appreciating the efforts of a women’s self-help group. She also toured Hill View Park, managed by the Sanjasaru Trust, to support community tourism initiatives. At Siritiguda, she inspected an OPTCL power transmission project, directing officials to make the two-phase system operational by June 2026.

In Nuagaon and Phiringia blocks, she reviewed the turmeric processing center and integrated farming projects. She inaugurated KASAM’s outlet and reception center, supporting the production of various crops and value-added products. At PM Shri Government Girls SSD High School, she interacted with students and addressed infrastructure concerns.

Garg also visited the Harabhanga water purification center, directing officials to expedite water supply efforts. She convened a district review meeting, expressing dissatisfaction with delays in the Harabhanga Water Treatment Plant and urging stakeholders to meet deadlines.

The Chief Secretary concluded her visit after reviewing water supply projects in Boudh district, emphasizing the need for improved coordination and timely resolution of challenges.
