Rayagada, Mar 30: Odisha police have apprehended the main suspect involved in the alleged rape and murder of a Class IV student from Bainibas village in Muniguda, Rayagada district from Delhi.
The accused has been identified as Harish Ram from Bihar. Harish was engaged in a water tank installation project in the village.
According to the information, the minor girl of Bainibas village went to sleep after dinner along with her family. However, next day morning, her parents found her missing.
After looking everywhere, they failed to locate the missing girl. Later, her father, Judhistir Kadraka, filed a formal complaint at the Muniguda police station. Subsequently, on March 17, a group of children grazing goats in the nearby forest spotted a decomposed body and informed the villagers. Kadraka identified the body as his daughter from the dress thee deceased was wearing
Upon reaching the scene, the police launched an investigation, with the scientific team gathering all possible evidence. Police could not find any injury mark on the body as that was severely decomposed.
During the investigation, suspicion fell on Harish Ram, who had been missing since the incident occurred. A search operation was initiated, leading to Harish's apprehension in Delhi.
Following his arrest, the accused was brought back to the village, where a recreation of the crime scene took place. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Muniguda Santoshini Oram confirmed to the media that Harish Ram has confessed to his involvement in the crime.
