Patna, July 5: Chilling CCTV footage has emerged capturing the cold-blooded murder of Bihar businessman and BJP leader Gopal Khemka outside his residence in Patna on Friday night.
The video shows a man in a blue shirt and black helmet loitering near Khemka’s house. Moments later, two cars arrive — the first driven by Khemka himself and the second by an associate, with a woman seated beside him. As the vehicles pause near the gate, the attacker runs up and shoots Khemka inside his car before fleeing on a bike.
By the time the gate opened, Khemka was seen slumped lifeless over the steering wheel. The man and woman in the second vehicle appeared visibly panicked. Officials confirmed Khemka died on the spot.
The shooting occurred around 11 PM near Hotel Panache, in the Gandhi Maidan police station area, as Khemka was returning home.
Police recovered a bullet and a shell casing from the scene. “We received information late on July 4 about the fatal shooting of businessman Gopal Khemka. A team reached the hospital and the crime scene immediately. The area has been sealed off and a detailed investigation is underway,” said City SP (Central) Diksha.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case.
Notably, Khemka's son, Gunjan Khemka, was also murdered three years ago.
Reacting to the killing, Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav (Rajesh Ranjan), visited the site and criticized the Nitish Kumar-led government. “Bihar has become a sanctuary for criminals! Nitish ji, please spare Bihar. No one is safe,” he posted on X.
