Double Health Scare Halts Celebrations: Smriti Mandhana’s Wedding Put on Hold

What was meant to be a joyous celebration for Indian cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana has turned into a period of concern for her family and fans. The highly anticipated wedding between the star opener and music composer Palash Muchhal, originally scheduled for November 23 in Sangli, has been officially postponed indefinitely. While early reports cited a sudden health emergency regarding Smriti's father, new developments reveal that the groom, Palash Muchhal, also required hospitalization.

Groom Faces Health Setback

On Monday, fresh details emerged indicating that the festivities faced a double blow. Shortly after the cricketer's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell ill, Palash also experienced a deterioration in his health. According to recent updates, the music composer was admitted to a private medical facility. Reports suggest he was suffering from a combination of high acidity and a viral infection. Fortunately, his condition was not critical; following necessary medical intervention, Palash has been discharged and has returned to his hotel to rest.

Father Under Close Observation

The situation remains delicate regarding Smriti’s father. Tuhin Mishra, Smriti's manager, verified that the health complications began early Sunday morning, just ahead of the planned ceremony.

Providing specific medical details, Dr. Naman Shah, the family physician, explained the severity of the situation to the press. He noted that Mr. Mandhana complained of "angina," or left-sided chest pain, around 1:30 PM. Upon receiving a distress call from Smriti's brother, an ambulance was immediately dispatched. Subsequent ECGs and medical reports highlighted elevated cardiac enzymes, necessitating strict hospital observation. However, Dr. Shah offered a glimmer of hope, stating that if the necessary improvements are observed, a discharge could be possible as early as Monday.

Celebrations Paused

Given the concurrent medical emergencies involving both the bride's father and the groom, the families have made the difficult decision to halt all rituals. The priority has shifted entirely to the recovery of their loved ones. No new dates have been discussed, and the wedding schedule will only be revisited once Smriti’s father makes a full recovery.

Fans across the country, including her vast following in Odisha, are sending their prayers for the speedy recovery of both families during this testing time.
