New Delhi, January 26: The 77th Republic Day celebrations in India witnessed a breathtaking cultural extravaganza along the Kartavya Path, with around 2,500 artists participating in a beautifully synchronized dance performance to the iconic national song, Vande Mataram. This performance was a major highlight of the parade, marking the 150th anniversary of the song's composition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi looked on with enthusiasm as the vibrant display unfolded, with performers dressed in colorful attire that represented India's rich cultural diversity. The dancers, who showcased a fusion of folk and classical forms from across the country, paid homage toVande Mataram, which was first written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875 and later adopted as India's national song.

The theme of this year's Republic Day parade, "Swatantrata Ka Mantra - Vande Mataram," added a historical dimension to the event, reflecting the song’s significant role in India's freedom struggle and its evolution as a symbol of national unity.

The performance was witnessed by dignitaries such as President Droupadi Murmu, European Council President Antonio Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Their presence added an international dimension to the celebrations, emphasizing India's cultural heritage and its global diplomatic engagements.

In addition to the cultural performances, the parade featured military contingents and cutting-edge defence equipment, showcasing India's strategic capabilities. The Indian Air Force presented an awe-inspiring flypast featuring Rafale, Su-30, MiG-29, and other aircraft, while traditional music, band performances, and floats from 17 states and 13 ministries highlighted India's rich diversity and significant accomplishments.

The parade also included a 21-gun salute and a series of patriotic ceremonies that underscored the values of democracy, unity, and progress that the Republic stands for. Republic Day, which marks the adoption of India's Constitution in 1950, is celebrated every year on January 26 at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Since its inception in 1950, the parade has been a key symbol of India's national pride and strength, organized by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Culture.Bottom of Form
