Bhubaneswar, Nov 21: Odisha Congress MLA Sagar Charan Das on Friday alleged that unidentified individuals assaulted one of his aides while trying to determine the legislator’s location and also threatened to kill him.

Das, the Bhawanipatna MLA and son of Odisha Congress president Bhakta Charan Das, filed a complaint with DGP Y. B. Khurania seeking action against those involved.

“It is unfortunate that one of my close associates and a zone head in Kalahandi district was assaulted and threatened by unknown miscreants, who demanded to know my whereabouts and issued a threat to my life,” Das wrote on X.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday evening.

In his complaint, Das stated that the attackers were armed with guns and other weapons and attempted to forcibly obtain information about him from his aide.

“As a public representative, this is a matter of grave concern. My personal safety, as well as my right to life and freedom, is being challenged by unlawful elements for reasons known only to them,” he wrote.

The Congress MLA urged the DGP to register an FIR and take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice, assuring full cooperation in the investigation.

Das also said he has informed the DIG (Northwestern Range) and the Kalahandi SP about the incident and requested that the accused not be allowed to escape accountability.
