Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Er Subrat Mohanty of Jagannath Vihar in Bhubaneswar city has grown over 100 strawberry plants in his house. He has adopted high-tech indoor strawberry cultivation method that needs no soil.

The strawberry is naturally cultivated in winter, However, in the high-tech indoor method it can be grown throughout the year by controlling the climate. I am controlling the temperature using AC, said Mohanty.

"I have grown over 100 strawberry plants in a long pipe and every plant is producing 250 to 300 gms of the fruit. I had brought the saplings from Mahabaleswar," he said.

Besides, he has frown lettuce in this method. He had brought the saplings from Delhi and grew it in the pipe using cocopeat. Lettuce has a good market in Odisha as it is widely used in pizza and burger.

Farmers from Kalahandi and Balasore are visiting Mohanty to take strawberry farming tips. He has planned for massive commercial production soon.
