Kendrapara, Feb 14: The police have successfully solved the mystery behind the death of a 21-year-old college girl, Swati Swarupa Samal, in Odisha's Kendrapara district and have arrested her boyfriend, Shibuna Nayak, from Bhubaneswar.
Swati, the daughter of Haraprasad Samal from Mallikesharpur in Kendrapara, went missing on February 5 while returning home from a private coaching center in Kendrapara. Her family reported her disappearance to the police, and on February 6, her body was discovered in the Luna River near Kusunpur under Marshaghai police limits.
The girl's family lodged an FIR, claiming that Swati had been murdered. Based on this complaint, the police initiated an investigation. During the probe, authorities uncovered that Swati was in a relationship with 22-year-old Shibuna Nayak, a resident of Mangarajpur in Nayagarh district.
Reports suggest that Swati had been enduring mental torture and harassment at the hands of Nayak, which allegedly led her to take her own life. Following this revelation, Marshaghai police arrested Nayak from a private college in Bhubaneswar.
The investigation is underway, and police are working to gather further evidence related to the case.
