Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: The Odisha government is setting up a handloom and handicraft hub at Pokhariput in the city.
All handicraft & handloom products will be available under one roof for customers. Besides, people can get to watch live weaving of handloom products. Government approved handloom companies will get place in the hub.
Besides, a special pavilion has been planned for the GI tag products.
Bhubaneswar Works Department (division – II) has been entrusted with the construction work which will be completed by December 31. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 24.16 crore.
A two-storied building of 18,000 square feet is being constructed for the project which will look like a showroom with parking facility at the basement, said Jagannath Mohapatra, who is overseeing the construction work.
The handicraft & handloom hub will help in direct interaction between the customers and the artisans and people will get to watch live demo of handicraft & handloom products, said a senior official of the handlooms, textiles & handicrafts department.
