Leaders boost tech ties and AI cooperation in Mumbai meeting

Mumbai is all set to host a significant diplomatic engagement this Tuesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomes French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders will come together to officially inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, marking a major milestone in bilateral relations. This visit highlights the growing bond between the two nations, specifically in the realms of technology and future-ready solutions.

Mark your calendars for February 17 to 19, as the French leader embarks on his fourth official trip to the sub-continent. While his itinerary includes the highly anticipated AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, his first stop involves crucial talks in India's financial capital. According to official reports, the bilateral engagements are scheduled to begin around 3:15 PM at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai.

During these high-level discussions, PM Modi and President Macron will review the current state of the India-France Strategic Partnership. The focus remains on cementing existing ties while exploring new avenues for cooperation. Key areas of discussion will likely include defense, space exploration, civil nuclear energy, and climate action. Furthermore, the leaders will exchange views on pressing global and regional issues.

Later in the evening, around 5:15 PM, the focus will shift to the future of technology. The leaders will address a dynamic gathering of researchers, startup founders, and business tycoons to launch the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. This initiative aims to foster deep collaboration in research and people-to-people exchanges throughout the year.

The itinerary also features an India-France Innovation Forum at the iconic Taj Mahal Palace, followed by a cultural commemoration at the Gateway of India. Following the Mumbai leg, President Macron will head to New Delhi. There, he joins a roster of global leaders at the Bharat Mandapam for the AI Impact Summit. This event positions New Delhi as a central hub for conversations on responsible and inclusive Artificial Intelligence.

This visit underscores the shared vision of both democracies to shape a future driven by innovation and mutual respect.
