Bhubaneswar, April 22: Odisha’s Capital City on Monday recorded the highest day temperature of 43. 8 degree Celsius by 2.30pm.
Regional Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar, informed it today.
According to the reports, Bhubaneswar had witnessed temperature 43.5 degree Celsius on April while it reached 43.6 degree Celsius on April 18. The state capital crossed all earlier records and with 43.8 Celsius, Bhubaneswar experienced hottest day of the season today.
The database of the Meteorological Department, Balasore recorded 40.7 Celsius, Chandbali recorded 40.4 Celsius, Keonjhar recorded 38 C, Gopalpur recorded 37 Celsius, Sambalpur recorded 36.6 Celsius, Jharsuguda recorded 36. Puri recorded 35 C, Hirakud recorded 34.8 Celsius and Rourkela recorded 34.4 degree Celsius by 2.30 pm.
“Due to the prevailing Nor-westerly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, day temperature is very likely to be 40°C or above at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over some districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours,” said IMD.
“Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Boudh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Nuapada.
Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40- 50 KMPH is also very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh argarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, warned the IMD Regional Centre.
