Bhubaneswar, Ap 28: Bhubaneswar’s Infocity police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a rape case dating back nearly three years.

The accused has been identified as Shubhajit Pradhan.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on May 19, 2023, when the 23-year-old victim, a resident of the Info City area, had celebrated her birthday.

Following the celebration, Pradhan allegedly took her to a hotel and raped her. The accused reportedly promised to marry the victim to pacify her, but failed to do so, prompting her to lodge a complaint with the Info City Police Station.

The case remained pending for almost three years before police successfully arrested Pradhan on Tuesday.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
