Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: A plus two student of Ramadevi Junior College in Bhubaneswar has brought serious allegations of ragging against her hostel roommates.
The matter came to the fore after the victim wrote a letter to the School and Mass Education Department seeking justice.
As per reports, Swayam Smpanna Mallick, a Plus 2 first-year Arts student of the college was subjected to mental torture by her roommates two to three days after she started staying in the hostel on the college premises.

I had brought the matter to the notice of the college authorities including the hostel superintendent and principal following which the anti-ragging cell of the college recorded my statement, but no action was taken, she further alleged.
In her five-page letter, the victim stated her roommates hurled casteist slur at her, forced her to watch vulgar videos and wear shorts at night. They also used mock her for passing out from an Odia medium school.
They used to restrict me from studying during night hours while they were on busy with their boyfriends on mobile phones. They were keeping their shoes on a rack allotted to me. They forced me to separate my bed and barred me from having food together inside the room. I was restricted to inform this to my parents too, said the victim.
Following her written complaint, the SME department requested the Director of Higher Secondary Education to inquire into her allegations and furnish a report as early as possible.
The college authorities could not be reached for comments on the matter.
