Bhubaneswar, June 9: In a significant move to ease accommodation difficulties for visitors to Bhubaneswar, the Odisha government has announced plans to construct dedicated guest houses in the capital city for each of the state’s 30 districts.
According to sources, each district-specific guest house will consist of 100 rooms, catering primarily to people arriving in Bhubaneswar for medical treatment, educational purposes, or official work at government offices. The initiative aims to provide affordable lodging and relieve visitors from the burden of high hotel and rental costs, which are often unaffordable for many.
The project will result in the creation of 3,000 rooms across 30 guest houses, each named after its respective district. The move is designed not only to offer economic relief but also to strengthen the sense of regional identity and representation among citizens.
Speaking about the initiative, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said, “The state government is planning to construct guest houses for each district in Bhubaneswar so that the visitors of these districts will get an opportunity to stay at those guest houses when they come to the state capital for various works. It has been proposed that each guest house will have 100 rooms and there will be a total of 3,000 rooms for 30 guest houses.”
He further added that the tariff for accommodation at these guest houses will be decided at a later stage.
This ambitious plan is expected to significantly benefit the public, particularly those from economically weaker sections, and streamline their stay during visits to the state capital.
