Bhubaneswar, Ap 4: Diarrhoea spreads its tentacles in Bhubaneswar as the water-borne disease is believed to have started spreading in ward No 13 of Niladri Vihar here.
More than 100 people have been affected due to this disease. Of them, some affected people are undergoing treatment at Niladri Vihar Government Health Center as well as Capital Hospital for treatment.
Local residents have complained on water contamination in the supply, mentioning the presence of harmful substances like cement and wood in the water. Many have also reported consuming this contaminated water, which may have led to the widespread illness.
Health department teams have reached the affected areas to provide medical treatment and distribute necessary medication to those severely affected.
The medical team is supervising the health of the affected people. Necessary steps are also being taken to clean the drinking water here. Moreover, people have been advised not to use contaminated water from open sources and only drink boiled water.
The team is closely monitoring the situation as many people have come in contact with those affected. Besides, water samples from the locality have been sent to laboratory for testing.
