Bhubaneswar, September 11: A man was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by a local court in Bhubaneswar on Thursday after being found guilty in a drug trafficking case.

Chittaranjan Sahoo, 39, was convicted by the second additional district judge-cum-special judge (NDPS), Bhubaneswar, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

In addition to the prison term, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Sahoo. Should he fail to pay the fine, he will be subjected to an additional year of rigorous imprisonment, the officer stated.
