Bhubaneswar bar owner, associate arrested for harassing women employees

Bhubaneswar, August 8: A bar owner and his associate were arrested on Wednesday for harassing women employees and not paying their salaries, Dhauli police said.
The arrested are owner of Nasha Bar in Laxmisagar, Siba Prasad Mohanty and his associate Jyoti Prakash Nayak.
They allegedly lured six women – four from New Delhi and two from Punjab - on the promise of providing them jobs in event management firms. However, they engaged them as bar dancers and were not paying salaries regularly.
Mohanty had arranged rented accommodation for them within Dhauli police limits and they were reportedly not allowed to venture outside after their duty hours.
The bar dancers contacted the HER team of Commisionerate Police on August 5 and narrated their ordeal following which a team led by ACP Anjana Tudu conducted a raid on the rented house in Mrutyunjaya Vihar with the help of Dhauli police.
The team broke open the door locked from outside and rescued the women. They alleged before police that they were being forced to dance till late at night and were not given the salary for months.
