Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday suspended a Public Relations Officer (PRO) for violating the Model Code of Conduct which is in force in Odisha’s Nuapada for the upcoming by-election.

Both the Congress and the BJD leveled the allegations against Tanuja Mohanty, a PRO working in Bhubaneswar.

The ECI ordered that Tanuja will remain in the state headquarters in Bhubaneswar during the suspension period. Along with this, the Election Commission has ordered her not to leave the headquarters without permission.

Notably, the Nuapada by-poll has been necessitated following the untimely passing of sitting MLA Rajendra Dholakia on September 8.

Voting for the by-election is scheduled on November 11, while the vote counting will be done on November 14.
