Kendrapara, Jul 23: Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha's Kendrapara district will reopen for tourists from August 1.
The visitors can explore the Meta Nursery, which showcases a variety of trees and plants. The Boat Library will also be available, offering opportunities to observe diverse wildlife and gain insights into different ecosystems through its collection of books.
New attractions include the rare Albino crocodile and other species. Visitors will be able to take selfies at designated photo points and enjoy boat rides that provide a unique view of crocodiles in their natural habitat. The park now features six fibre boats at Dangmal and four at Gupti.
Worth mentioning, the park has been closed since May 1 for the crocodile breeding season.
The closure, which typically spans from May 1 to July 31, is implemented annually to protect the estuarine crocodiles during their nesting period. This is when the reptiles lay eggs on the surface and can become aggressive, posing a risk to visitors.
