Bhubaneswar, December 1:The winter chill that has gripped Odisha over the past few days has slightly eased, with no city recording temperatures below 10°C in the last 24 hours. However, cold conditions continue across parts of western and southern Odisha, with Kandhamal district continuing to experience dense fog and biting cold.

The Regional Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop in temperatures after two days. While Cyclone Ditwah did not directly affect the state, light rainfall is expected in districts such as Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada today.

Kandhamal continues to be the coldest region in Odisha. Since early November, the district has frequently recorded temperatures below 15°C, with several days dipping below 10°C. On Monday, Kandhamal was enveloped in cloudy skies, dense fog, and near-zero visibility, with sunlight failing to break through even by 8 am. The severe weather conditions have disrupted daily activities, especially affecting traffic due to poor visibility. Despite these challenges, Kandhamal remains a popular destination for tourists eager to experience the winter chill.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack experienced relatively warmer conditions, with minimal effects from the cold wave. The cold weather is primarily concentrated in districts like Koraput, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur.
