Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: Interstate women looters are active in Bhubaneswar with arrival of the festive season, police said. According to police, women looters from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan come to Bhubaneswar with beginning of festive season.
They take shelter at railway stations, bus stand area and under National Highway over bridge. They also stay on rent in slums and cheap hotels. They loot roaming around the city and shopping malls and return to their state after festive season.
Recently, Badagada police arrested three women looters of West Bengal and now they are on bail. The Commissionerate Police had busted an interstate all-women gang of looters last year last year with arrest of nine members.
The Commissionerate Police has termed them as petticoat gang. They visit shopping malls and crowded markets in evening and loot valuables on the pretext of shopping.
They hide the loot items in a bag attached to their petticoat to avoid public attention. They transfer the items to their accomplices outside the shop soon after loot to avoid checking, informed a senior police official.
