New Delhi, June 5: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the Bengaluru stampede incident near Chinnaswamy Stadium that left 11 dead and over 50 injured during RCB's IPL victory parade. The NHRC has issued notices to the Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner, demanding an Action Taken Report within seven days. It also asked for details on permissions granted for the event and a list of victims.

The Commission cited serious human rights violations and is considering a high-level probe. Complaints received, including from the BHIM organization, highlighted poor crowd control and alleged that celebrations continued despite the tragedy.

Separately, the Karnataka High Court also issued a notice to the state government, seeking a response on the incident.
