Balangir, Jan 17: In a shocking case of fratricide, the Balangir police have arrested eight people, including the elder brother, for the planned murder of a young man in Deolagudi village under Tushura police station.

The victim, identified as Nataraj Thanapati, was found dead near the Tel River bridge on the night of February 2. Reports indicate that Nataraj’s elder brother had hired Nataraj’s close friend to push him off the bridge, offering ₹60,000 to carry out the murder. Investigations revealed that the elder brother orchestrated the entire plan and had also involved other accomplices.

Nataraj’s wedding had been scheduled for February 5, and preparations were underway when his body was discovered under suspicious circumstances. The family had lodged a complaint, prompting a thorough police investigation.

Police have confirmed that the elder brother confessed to masterminding the murder. The arrests highlight a disturbing case where trust and familial bonds were brutally violated for monetary gain.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are looking into the involvement of all eight accused in this premeditated murder.
