Pipili, Jan 6: Tragedy struck near Mangalapur in Pipili when a Sarala private bus collided with a scooter, killing two women on the spot. Among the victims was Sheela Patnaik, a journalist working with News7. The scooter, carrying the two women from Bhubaneswar towards Puri, was hit from behind and dragged for nearly 30 meters.

The victims, traveling from Bhubaneswar towards Puri, were struck from behind by the bus while riding near Mangalapur. The force of the collision caused one woman to die instantly, while the other sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility. Tragically, she too succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

One of the deceased has been identified as Shila Pattnaik, a journalist working with News7. The other victim’s identity is yet to be confirmed.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident. This incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety and reckless driving in the region.
