Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: The Satyanagar crematorium in Bhubaneswar has undergone a complete facelift and is now ready for public use. The upgraded facility will be inaugurated within the next 15 days, offering residents a modern and convenient alternative for performing last rites within the city.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Chanchal Rana inspected the upgraded facility on Wednesday and reviewed its arrangements. The renovation, carried out at an estimated cost of ₹2.38 crore, includes the installation of a gas-based cremation system along with six separate traditional wood pyres.

To ensure that last rites can be performed in accordance with traditional customs, the crematorium has been equipped with all necessary amenities. A pond has also been constructed within the premises. Additionally, BMC has developed restrooms, toilets, and staff quarters to enhance convenience for visitors and employees.

The completion of the Satyanagar crematorium will spare residents from traveling to Dahayaganj for cremation services, offering a modern and cleaner alternative within the city itself.

Following his visit to the crematorium, Commissioner Rana also inspected the Unit-4 Market, advising vendors to maintain better cleanliness and hygiene. Later, he reviewed the progress of the Shaheed Nagar multilevel car parking facility.
