Cuttack, Nov 22: A shocking murder has unfolded in the Dargha Bazaar area of Cuttack, where a son reportedly killed his parents in a gruesome act. The incident occurred late Friday night, leaving the local community in shock. The initial investigation suggests that a financial dispute may have triggered the brutal double murder.

The deceased victims have been identified as Deepak Kumar Das, an employee at Choudwar Jail, and his wife, Rita Rani Das. Both were discovered with multiple stab wounds, lying in a pool of blood inside their residence. Officers from the Dargha Bazar police station immediately detained their son, Alok Kumar Das, at the scene on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

Police reports indicate that Alok did not attempt to flee and was found seated inside the house when authorities arrived. A bloodstained knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered from the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Alok and his father had been embroiled in a longstanding financial dispute. Family members informed the police that Deepak had lent Rs 10 lakh to Alok some time ago, and tensions over repayment had grown in recent months. Alok had reportedly been living separately from his wife.

The confrontation that led to the murder appears to have escalated when Alok returned to the house around 9 p.m. on Friday, demanding more money. Both victims suffered multiple knife wounds to the neck, chest, and abdomen, according to police officials.

The bodies of Deepak and Rita have been sent to SCB Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem examination. Investigators are working to determine whether anyone else might have had prior knowledge of the attack or been involved in the financial dispute.

As of the latest reports, the police are continuing to question Alok to ascertain whether the murder was premeditated and whether anyone else was aware of his intentions. Authorities are also reviewing recent property transactions, financial records, and phone communications to gather further evidence.
