Rashid Khan reveals intense security struggles during home visits.

Cricket sensation Rashid Khan recently shared a chilling reality regarding his life back home, leaving former England captain Kevin Pietersen in complete disbelief. While most global sports stars worry about paparazzi or media privacy, Rashid revealed that his primary concern in Afghanistan is physical safety, necessitating the use of a custom-made Rashid Khan bulletproof car.

During a candid conversation, Rashid explained that moving around in a standard vehicle is simply not an option for him. He told Pietersen that while he doesn't believe he is a direct target, the volatile environment in Afghanistan makes extreme precautions a necessity. "I have to have a bulletproof car. I travel in my own bulletproof car only," Rashid stated, highlighting the stark reality of being a high-profile figure in his homeland.

The revelation shocked Pietersen, who found it "fascinating" yet sobering. Rashid further clarified that his vehicle was specially commissioned and that such safety measures have become a "normal thing" for many people in his country. He noted that even though he isn't specifically hunted, being in the "wrong place at the wrong time" is a risk he cannot afford to take. There have even been instances where people have tried to open his locked vehicle in public.

This glimpse into Rashid’s private life contrasts sharply with his status as a global Afghanistan cricket icon. Born in Nangarhar province, the spin wizard has risen from a war-torn background to dominate T20 leagues worldwide. From the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the Big Bash, Rashid is a household name. However, the security challenges have led him to make Dubai his primary residence, providing a safer environment and better connectivity for his international career.

Despite the distance and the armored vehicles, Rashid remains deeply tied to his roots. He is often cited as the most popular Afghan figure globally, carrying the weight of a nation’s expectations every time he takes the field. His story is a powerful reminder of the hidden struggles athletes from conflict zones face, even as they achieve unprecedented success on the world stage.
