Bhadrak, May 1: Odisha Forest Department has begun a probe into a case involving ‘Naagin Dance’in a marriage party with real cobras.
The Bhadrak DFO has ordered his officials to take legal actions against the Wildlife Act violator, and to rescue the snakes from their possession.
The odd-nature of case reportedly arised in the Bhadrak district on Thursday, when a barat party’s Naagin Dance with at least three cobras, went viral on social media.
According to reports, the scene was recorded at Chhedaka village under Dhamra block limit during a marriage processon.
Barats, hired performers including transgenders were seen dancing in tune with the Naagin-Naagin song with at least three living cobras on their heads.
On being aware of it, Bhadrak DFO Soubhagya Sahu asked for an investigation into the matter and urged the officials to sue the offenders to the court of law.
Investigation is yet underway, the offenders will be summoned and booked, the DFO added.
