Bhubaneswar, April 3: The service road connecting Baramunda with Khandagiri has turned into a dumping ground. The left side of the service lane is filled with garbage and filth. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), apparently, has little knowledge about it.
Commuters passing through the route are forced to cover their faces due to the foul smell.
Apart from the locals dumping garbage on the service lane, several nearby organisations are also disposing of the waste at the site, said shopkeepers.
The service lane is mostly used by buses, auto-rickshaws besides regular commuters for reaching areas in Khandagiri as taking the flyover would mean covering another 100 metres from Baramunda. The buses parking on the road side have turned it a vehicle washing place.
Local corporator Rama Chandra Ranasingh said people from nearby residential areas are using it as a dumping yard. Besides, roadside mutton and chicken shops are dumping leftovers here. The sanitation team of BMC has fined several people.
