Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: The much-awaited Baramunda Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) will be operational from October this year, said Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) vice chairman Balwant Singh.
The Baramunda ISBT project has reached the completion stage. Accordingly, a facility management agency has also been roped in. “We hope the project will be dedicated to the public in October,” Singh said.
Baramunda ISBT is the biggest bus stand of the state being developed with an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore on an 11-acre land.
It will have all modern facilities including a food court, excavator, elevator, multi-storied car parking facility, WiFi, pickup and drop-off facilities for passengersand.
Around 2000 buses can be run every day from the ISBT. The Baramunda ISBT will totally run by solar power.
It will be operated and maintained in public-private partnership (PPP) mode. Two agencies will be selected – one for operation and maintenance of the bus terminal and another for revenue collection. The initial contract period of the agencies will be five years.
