Kantabanji, Nov 18: Normal life was disrupted in many parts of Western Odisha as over a hundred organizations observed a 12-hour bandh in support of their demand for a separate state of Koshal comprising 11 places in the region today.
The bandh call was given under the banner of the Koshal Rajya Milita Karjyanushtan Committee
The dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the committee hit normal life as schools, colleges, business establishments, and vehicular movements were closed in various localities.
However, emergency services including ambulance and healthcare services have been exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Activists of various organizations blocked roads with burning tyres in many towns.
Koshal Rajya Milita Karjyanushtan Committee threatened to intensify the agitation in the coming days if the government fails to meet its demand.
However, Sambalpur remained unaffected as the district reportedly has not joined the protest.
