Cuttack, Nov 19: Visitors in Bali Yatra experienced unique ‘money growing tree’ at a stall by Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The famous English saying - ‘Money does not grow on trees’- found its counterpart. At a stall run by the RBI during the Bali Yatra festival, a striking display is drawing the attention of many curious visitors.
The exhibit, part of a financial awareness campaign, showcases the reverse side of currency notes to educate the public on the importance of proper note handling.
Many customers are seen exchanging torn, soiled, or damaged currency notes at the stall. Some are surprised to find currency notes hanging from trees, which is a symbolic element of the campaign designed to promote saving habits.
With thousands of visitors milling through the Bali Yatra grounds, the festival provides a unique setting for the RBI's outreach initiatives. The blend of commerce and cultural festivities has allowed the central bank to reach a diverse audience—from traders and vendors to families and tourists—many of whom are interacting with the exhibit for the first time.
The exchange of damaged notes at the stall not only helps to promote the idea of proper note handling but also offers a direct and practical way for people to engage with the initiative.
For many small and medium-sized traders, the festival serves as a key business opportunity, and they are often seen stopping by the RBI stall to inquire about the exchange process. As the Bali Yatra draws large crowds from both within the state and beyond, the RBI’s efforts at the event contribute to a broader goal of financial inclusion and awareness.
The festival, with its vibrant atmosphere and diverse community, is the perfect backdrop for blending commerce with important financial education in a lively, interactive environment.
This initiative is not just about teaching proper currency care, but also about encouraging responsible financial habits in a setting where people from all walks of life come together to celebrate commerce and culture.
