Cuttack, Nov 18: The Cuttack district administration has announced an extension of the permitted use of amplifiers at the Bali yatra, pushing the cutoff time from 10:00 pm to 10:30 pm. This decision, effective from November 17 to November 22, 2024, aims to enhance the experience for visitors of Asia’s largest open trade fair, which attracts millions from across the state.
In an official statement released on Sunday, the district administration highlighted that various cultural troupes from different states, countries, and districts have been invited to present their unique traditions and heritage at the historic Baliyatra. Performances will take place at the Ganakabi Baishnab Pani Mancha and Akshay Mohanty Mancha, drawing large crowds eager to enjoy the festivities.
The extension of the amplifier usage was granted under Section 5(3) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, by the Cuttack District Magistrate. This decision reflects the administration’s commitment to accommodating the interests of the general public during this state-level festival, which is recognized for its cultural significance.
The previous Saturday saw a musical program abruptly cut short at 10:00 PM, leading to dissatisfaction among both organizers and attendees. With the new regulations in place, officials hope that the extended time will allow for a more enjoyable and complete experience for all participants at the fair. The Baliyatra continues to celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of the region, fostering community engagement and promoting tourism.
