Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Odisha is set to make history as cheetahs are brought to Nandankanan Zoological Park, offering tourists a rare opportunity to witness the world’s fastest land animal without traveling to Madhya Pradesh.

According to reports, the state government has announced plans to introduce cheetahs to Nandankanan, with subsequent relocations to other forests in the state. The animals are expected to be brought from South Africa through a designated private agency, which will handle their transportation and initial arrangements.

Director of Nandankanan, Sanath Kumar, confirmed that both male and female cheetahs will soon arrive at the zoo. "Visitors will be able to see the cheetahs very soon. Adequate space is being prepared to accommodate them, and the tender process for transportation and logistics will begin shortly after government approval," he said.

Cheetahs, known for their incredible speed of up to 120 km/h, require vast enclosures to thrive. The zoo administration is taking special measures to ensure their habitat meets these requirements, promising an exciting new chapter in Odisha’s wildlife conservation efforts.
