Koraput, Mar 11: A Hindi teacher from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Landiguda, Koraput district, has been suspended in connection with the tragic drowning of three students in the Kolab reservoir last week.

Ramesh Chandra Meena, the teacher, was suspended for dereliction of duty. This follows the suspension of three other staff members on Sunday, including physics teacher Chaman Kumar, physical education teacher Rahul Singh, and hostel in-charge Ishwar Khara, in relation to the incident.

The investigation into the tragedy is ongoing, as officials have confirmed. The incident occurred between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm last Saturday when a group of hostel boarders, after completing their CBSE Class X final examinations, went for a swim in the nearby Kolab reservoir. Unfortunately, the students drowned while bathing in the water.

The deceased have been identified as Lingaraj Khilo from Koraput, Swastik Sundar Halwa from Laxmipur, and Om Prakash Halwa from Lamtaput.
