Kabisuryanagar, Jan 1: Two persons tragically lost their lives, and three others were injured in a horrific head-on collision between a motorcycle and a scooter near Budhaamba under the Kabisuryanagar police station limits in Ganjam district, Odisha, on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Rudranarayan Dash and Rashmiranjan Padhi, both residents of Kumuti Sahi in Kodala. Their bodies were recovered from the accident site and later sent for post-mortem examination.

According to police reports, the accident occurred late in the evening when the two two-wheelers, traveling in opposite directions, collided. The impact of the crash was so severe that both riders died on the spot.

Apart from the fatalities, three other individuals sustained injuries in the crash. One of the injured persons, whose condition is reported to be critical, was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced treatment. The condition of the other two injured persons is stable.

Upon receiving the distress call, personnel from the Kabisuryanagar police station swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated a preliminary investigation. Police are currently probing the exact circumstances that led to the tragic head-on collision, with a focus on factors such as road conditions, speed, and the movement of the vehicles involved.

Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic rules, especially in areas with high accident risks. The investigation is ongoing.
