New Delhi, Sept 16: Assasination attempt to Former United States President and Republican nominee for the 2024 US elections, Donald Trump was again hatched on Monday but was proved futile.
Trump survived narrowly from the incident, despite gun shots were fired towards him near the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
US Intelligence sources said that US Secret Service agents opened fire after seeing a person with a firearm near the golf course on Sunday. Subsequently, an AK-style firearm was recovered near the golf course.
After the fateful incident, Trump assured his supporters and respondned on the situation through his E-mail saying, “I AM SAFE AND WELL! Before rumours get out of hand, know that I am okay. Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always appreciate your support."
Following it, Trump’s campaign communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement that the 2024 Republican presidential nominee “is safe following gunshots in his vicinity".
According to reports, the suspect of the shooting has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh. He has been arrested by officials and the attack is under investigation.
The accused was reportedly intercepted by security personeel while he dropped his weapon and fled in an SUV.
The reason behind the bid is yet to be ascertained. However, the accused is a hardened criminal who was earlier in custody, source said.
