Asian Hockey Champions Trophy: India play China tomorrow

Hulunbuir (Mongolia), Sep 7: Paris Olympics 2024 Bronze medallist India will begin their campaign in the 8th edition of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy from Sunday at the Moqi training base, here.

Led by Harmanpreet Singh, defending champions India will be looking to win their record-extending fifth title this year. 

Apart from India, five other Asian teams Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Japan and Korea will be participating in the tournament.

India will begin their campaign against China on Sunday. Harmanpreet's men will the play Japan on September 9, take on Malaysia on September 11, lock horns against South Korea on September 12 and face arch rivals Pakistan on September 14.

The matches for the 5th place will be played on September 16. On the same day, both the semi-finals will be held as well.

On September 17, the match for the third place and the final will  be held, the tournament fixture revealed.

As per the format, the tournament will start with the league stage, which will consist of a total of 15 matches. The fifth and sixth-placed teams in the league will then compete in the fifth-place match, while the top four teams will advance to the semi-finals. The two semifinal winners will compete for the tile in the final.
