Colombo, Sep 6: Rain did play spoilsport in the much awaited India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup on last Saturday. Both teams shared honours as Pakistan could not bat a single ball due to persistent rain after India managed 266/10 unable to negotiate Pakistani pacers in adverse weather conditions.
But with Super 4 schedule and team qualifications finalised on Tuesday night after Sri Lanka held their nerves to overcome the spirited Afghan challenge, fans would watch another Indo-Pak high voltage tussle on coming Sunday. That may not be all. If both teams qualify for the Final, they may lock horns again on September 17.
Needless t elaborate that the 3-run hard earned win qualified joint hosts Lanka to qualify as the fourth team for Super 4 stages.
As per schedule, the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023 to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka will begin on Wednesday in Lahore. In the first match, Pakistan will clash with Bangladesh.
Earlier, three teams - Pakistan, India and Bangladesh had confirmed their spots while Sri Lanka emerged as the last team with a 3-run win over Afghanistan.
As per Points Table, Pakistan finished on top of Group A (A1) while India is marked as A2, finishing second. Similarly, Bangladesh topped Group B (B1), while Lanka qualified as B2.
According to the tournament fixture, there will be six matches in the Super 4. It will be followed by the final on September 17.
